Summer is here! 夏天是海龜媽媽開始上岸產卵的季節!
前天在佛羅里達有隻赤蠵龜很特別，在天亮的時候上岸產卵，當地的保育人員拍攝並分享這段珍貴的產卵影片，可以看到像乒乓球一樣大的海龜蛋一顆顆的掉下來～
為什麼說這段影面很珍貴呢？
因為大部份種類的海龜都是在天黑之後，離開大海，爬上岸，在沙灘上找一個適合的地方挖洞產卵，當保育人員遇到產卵海龜的時候，保育人員多會摸黑靠近檢查，確認一切良好後，就會保持距離，避免驚擾產卵海龜，所以也很少有機會可以看得這麼清楚唷～
Last evening, before sunset, we were alerted that a loggerhead turtle had come ashore and was beginning to nest.
I was able to allow two people at a time to come behind her and view the eggs drop into her nest, after she was done and covered up the eggs, everyone was able to view her as she went back to the water.
Whenever a turtle comes ashore, people need to stay away and behind the turtle, no one is allowed to touch her or use flash photography. But, since I am the Florida Marine Turtle Permit Holder here, I'm allowed to conduct education about turtles, beach etiquette, and show people a turtle up close.
I use every opportunity to educate the public about our endangered and threatened summer visitors.
